Another piece of protective equipment that gets “old school” players hot under the collar. But with modern technology, materials, and light weight fabrics, the shoulder vest is becoming more accepted.

The shoulder vest helps, much in the same way as the scrum cap, to lessen the impact of tackles, contact in the scrum, and the occasional bump and bruise.

Each team should have at least one, just in case.
